The events in Ukraine, and their terrible impact on the civilian population, are stirring our consciences, and have sadly brought to the fore the challenge that the migrant population poses to our societies. As of today, February 28, just 4 days after the start of the bombing, more than half a million people have already left Ukraine, the vast majority of them women, the elderly and children.
Much has already been said about the inhumanity of this situation. From our ILC-YMCA we want to make an appeal so that all these people are received with all the necessary means to offer them a dignified life.
Under no circumstances should we allow there to be first and second category refugees, and exactly the same way we turned to the Ukrainians, we must continue to receive refugees from other countries with open arms and hearts and with the necessary resources to offer a future to these people.
