Municipality of Thessaloniki has become the first local authority in Greece signing a partnership agreement with UNHCR with the aim to host 660 refugees.

The 600 will be staying in rented apartments while the others will be hosted by individuals.

“The program will provide hundreds families of refugees with descent living conditions and social support while there will be also many benefits for the local community and economy” told the mayor of Thessaloniki, mr. Mpoutaris.

Representatives of YMCA were present during the signing ceremony as our organization will participate in the programme by organizing creative activities for the refugee children (6-16 years old).
